Everyone meet Arthur! He’s a stray dog who began following the members of an extreme sports team as they participated in an exhausting 430-mile race through the Amazon rainforest, and didn’t leave their side, not even when they reached the finish line.
Team Peak Performance, a Swedish group, had just sat down for a meal before beginning a 20 mile journey in Ecuador. The group was participating in the Adventure Racing World Championship through the Amazon rain forest. As they prepared to eat, they spotted the stray dog.
Mikael Lindnord decided to feed the dog a meatball before the team continued on but the bedraggled animal followed them. They tried to shake him, mostly for his own safety, but he was steadfast in his pursuit and so he became team member five.
The team decided together to call him Arthur and now that the race is over he’s been adopted by them and has flown back to Sweden with his team.
Lindnord said: “I came to Ecuador to win the World Championship. Instead, I got a new friend.”
