Dog fighting is a cruel and vicious activity. It is animal cruelty. Dog fighting has been a felony in the United States since 2008. According to aspcapro.org, it is illegal to be in possession of dogs that are used for fighting.

Even being a spectator at a dogfight is illegal (except in Montana and Hawaii). Bait dogs are chained or confined while other dogs attack, bite, and tear at the animal. The goal for the attacking dog is to incapacitate or kill the bait dog.

It is used to test the fighting instinct in dogs. If a large dog is used as the bait dog, it’s mouth is often taped so it can’t fight back! Baiting is also illegal in the United States. Unfortunately, dog fighting and baiting still happens in the U.S and across the globe.
